Stools

Here are two stools I made for my kiddos in my classroom. To my surprise my students really enjoyed using the stool.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well they went over with the kiddos.  During Read to Self time students use the stools, so they always come in handy.

Roscoe the Basset Hound

Roscoe the Basset Hound

Roscoe the Basset Hound is my sweet baby that I have had since 2007.  He came from the Bowling Green/ Warren County Humane Society and he was approximately 10 months old.  We were his third home when he came to us and he had never been off of a leash or had his own bed to sleep.   He has been such a good dog for us and I want to encourage anyone wanting a pet to go to your local shelter and adopt.  Roscoe is a purebred and he had been mistreated in his short 10 months of life.  The animals there will love you for giving them a chance and a forever home.

God Bless

My Classroom Corner

My classroom corner where I do most of my reading with students one on one, grading papers, reflecting on data, and keep my weekly go to handouts along with my most important binders.   Its also my little peace and quiet corner during my planning and at the end of the day.   At the end of every July I know most teachers dread putting their class together, but I look forward to it, because its a new year and I get to create a new look to my everyday classroom that my kiddos will call home everyday.

Teaching

                                     Teaching...

This will be my 17th year to teach and in the 16 years of teaching I have dealt with a variety of everything.  I was an assistant to begin right out of college and then taught Special Education for a few years, also taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade, back to Special Education and then finally to middle school Reading.  During all of the teaching I went back to school to get my Rank II and my Rank I, which for those of you who do not know basically means you choose a emphasis area and study that for a specific number of hours, complete the course work to satisfaction, take a test, and then you receive a pay increase.  It sounds much simpler than the time you put in I assure you.
In my teaching career I have seen education change somewhat, but in it all what has not changed is the kids ALWAYS need love.   It is a shame how there are so many kids that come to school and do not have the necessary supplies physically and emotional support to be the best they can be.   This is where the teachers must fill in the gaps.   This leaves a hardship on many teachers who are desperately trying to teach and do all of the other hundreds of  duties they need to as a teacher.
As this summer break is a much needed break for many it is not the entire summer.  So, those new to teaching or who want to be a teacher take note.  You really only receive a few weeks off, because of either professional development days required by your district or either you can not turn off your mind as a working teacher.

Congratulations... You made it...

Summer has begun for teachers!  Can we get a hip hip hurray.... Yes yes...!! Parents its your turn now to take the responsibility on for about 8 weeks.....:0)

Yes... now it's time for swimming, relaxing, no alarm clocks, laying around the house, the pool, spending more time with family and friends, no alarm clock... (did I already say that) lol... Yeah you get my drift....

Enjoy!!
Till next time.... Jolynn.

Happy Father's Day

This was a picture of my Daddy and me at Beech Bend Park when I was about 4 years old.   He has been gone now for about 2 1/2 years and I miss him every single day.  He taught me so much in life that I use daily.  I miss you daddy.
Happy Fathers Day!

I love you!

Happy Father's Day to all of the awesome Father's out there. I know you all work very hard for your daughters, sons, and family. I have the best one, Big Bubba. He is always there for me no matter what. Even when I make him mad he is still there for me. I love you 'Deddie'. From 08
